Michael was born to a Prussian born father Henry and a French born mother Elizabeth.  He was a Grocery store owner that married a German born wife Abbie Prellwitz.  In the 1900 US census his mother-in law is living with them.  Her name is Marie Prellwitz.  That's where I got Abbie's maiden name.  He did quite well for himself.  He owned some property.  Abbie had 3 children and 2 survived.  She immigrated in 1872 along with her mom.    Abbie would have been 8 years old at the time.  She ended up spending the last of her life in an institution for insane people.

Marie Prellwitz states that she was the mother of six but only two survived.    She and her parents were born in Germany and she came over in 1872  and is not naturalized.   She's lived 25 years in the United States.
