Born perhaps in Sweden but the dates listed are very suspect and should be looked upon as an approximation and my vary by 20 years.  There are some researchers that think that some of the lineage on Ulf was invented by his son, Sven II "DeCrepon", to make himself look better to his people and some recent researcher have added up to five additional children with no apparent proof.

He joined the alliance of Olav II King of Norway and Anund King of Sweden to oppose his brother-in-law King Knud/Canute.[FMG -Danish Kings]

The Chronicon Roskildense records that "duci Ulf" was killed "in ecclesia Roskildensi" where his widow buried him.[FMG -Danish Kings]  The story has been retold so that Ulf is killed in the Roskilde Cathedral while the priest, who had been a friend of Knute afterwards would not allow Knute to enter church without the forgiveness of the sin.
Saxo Grammaticus records that he was killed on the orders of King Knud whom he had allegedly insulted[FMG -Danish Kings] - perhaps also by his disloyalty.

Governor of Jomsborg the region 1023-1025

"He was made an Earl in England by Knud. He joined his brother's alliance to oppose Knud/Canute in 1026.  Because of his lack of loyalty to Canute he had a major dilemma to explain.
When the Swedish king Anund Jakob and the Norwegian king Saint Olaf took advantage of Canute's absence and attacked Denmark, Ulf convinced the freemen to elect Harthacanute king, since they were miscontent with Canute's absenteeism. This was a ruse from Ulf since his role as the caretaker of Harthacanute would make him the ruler of Denmark.

When Canute learnt of what had happened in 1026, he returned to Denmark and with Ulf Jarl's help, he defeated the Swedes and the Norwegians at the Battle of the Helgeå. This service, did not, however, make Canute forgive Ulf for his coup. At a banquet in Roskilde, the two brothers-in-law were playing chess and started arguing with each other. The next day, the Christmas of 1026, Canute had one of his Housecarls kill Ulf Jarl in the church of Trinity. The accounts of the two brothers and Ulf's death are contradictory." [Wikipedia.org]

Ulf was the father of Sweyn II Estridson, and thus the ancestor of Danish royal house which would rule Denmark 1047-1375. [FMG -Danish Kings]

The child, Eadnoth"the Staller", seems to fit better in this family than the later version. Eadnoth's son Harding always considered himself a member of the royalty and "son of the king of Denmark".  It is a manner of finding the correct connection.  If the dates are correct Estrid would only be 33 to 38 years old at his birth.  It also seems to be more appropriate in terms of the history since Eadnoth is said to have fought against his own relatives at Stamford Bridge in Yorkshire in 1066.  One researcher says that he married a Queen of Denmark.  I have not found any documentation to indicate this.  Eadnoth's most recognized marriage is to Rissa deMontgomery.
