Jønsberg Farm in Norway

Jønsberg Farm #7, Romedal, Hedmark, Norway

I have little information on this farm because it lies in Romedal district and I don't have access to the Romedal bydebok.  It is a landmark farm visible from the main highway.

Amund Nielsen stated that he was living on the Jønsberg farm when his daughter Johanne was baptized in 1806.

This is a huge estate.  It needed much help to maintain it importance over the years.  It is listed in O. Rygh, "Norsk Gaardnavne" as farm #7 where as it is also #177. The obviously has an extensive history.  Some of the dated documents go back to Medieval documents of 1335.

Navn vel har været Ólaberg, af Mandsnavnet Óli, ikke, som der tildels
skrives, Ólafsberg.

Presently it seems to  be the Jønsberg videregående skole which is a school in and is nearby to Arneberg, Horne and Ilseng

"Jønsberg high school located in Romedal in Stange municipality on the eastern side of Mjøsa Hedmark . The school offers vocational training in natural resource and education. It allows students to specialize in agriculture, animal husbandry, forestry, organic farming , outdoor activities, horse , sports and family animals, mathematics , chemistry and biology . The school was established as an agricultural school in 1847 , and changed its name from Jønsberg agricultural college to Jønsberg high school in 2008 . In 1801 there were nine families living here. I expect that several families were living in the same house.  Note that there were also several soldiers and cavalrymen living here.  Chrestopher Nielsen seems to be the Lord of the property and I think that Simen Chrestophersen (#1) is their son.  There are a couple of other family members also here.  #23 is a probable daughter, Lucie Chrestophersdatter.
