Alcey Kirkland was the daughter of Caleb Kirkland who immigrated with at least two of this brothers and their families to Henry Co., Alabama from Edgefield Co., South Carolina about 1817. Researchers have long tried to figure out the relationship of Alcy to the rest of the Kirkland records.

1830- Census records in Henry Co., AL missed the John Scott family.

1840- William R. Kelley family shows in Henry Co., AL

1850 - Census records between 1850 and 1880 all contain an Alcey or Alice as the wife of William R. Kelley.

William R. Kelley and John Scott were business partners besides being related by marriage. John Scott was his brother-in-law who married Nancy Kirkland, sister to Alcey.

William R. Kelley owned land in Township 6 North, Range 28 East where other Caleb Kirkland families lived. He also owned land in Township 7 North in Henry Co. Alabama. [Peacock 215-217]
