This area presently is a major tourist destination for Norwegians from Oslo and regions south.  The river affords good fishing and wonderful views of the valley.  It also contains part of Norway's first national park.

The listed relatives seem to have stayed in the area for a couple of hundred years.  They may have been involved in farming and logging.  In the early years the river could have provided easy transportation of logs to the south end of Lake Mjøsa at Minnesund, nearly 174 kilometers.

Finn Tjøstolvsen Hundorp, 1275 is believed to be the father of Alv Finnsen according to the following record.
He must have been the father of Alv Finnsen who on 11.09.1322 by the ombudsman Bergsvein Sigurdsen, in Oslo bought "1 ørtugsbol less than 7 ørerbol dølsk" in Skaaden (Øyer) for 30 gilded marks in butter and burnt silver from the governor in northern Gudbrandsdalen, Gudleik Eindridsen (DN I 169). He is also mentioned as a witness in a farm shop on Romsås in Ringebu 04.02.1341, otherwise it is not shown that it is the same man (DN II 241). The last time he is mentioned is in a letter from 25.02.1345 (DN II 268, «Regesta Norvegica» V, no. 742): «Letter of power of attorney from Alv Finnsson for Alv Håkonsson: Gives him authority to summon the men who have "spoken ill of" him in Guttorm Eiriksson's work [Gudbrandsdalen], or have violated his property. Sealed by the issuers ». He probably also died in the autumn of 1349. Elf has probably had children, but one can not see that any of these have survived him. [Records of Tore-Nygaard 2020]

Could the priest, Eirik Sigurdsen, be a brother to Gudbrand Sigurdsen mentioned here? (note EC)

03.03.1370 Eirik Sigurdsen, priest in Fron, Ivar Otryggsen and Tore Lodensen at Listad in Fron announced that they at Listad kirkebø in Fron had the same day witnessed that Gudbrand Sigurdsen and Valgerd Finnsdatter entered into a full settlement with Halldor Torleivsen for the injustice (afruni ) he had inadvertently made Valgerd's brother Nikulas Finnson. It is possible that this was a murder case.

Although the church in the distance is quite the landmark, this particular church was not built until 1792.  The previous church was probably a stave church such as seen in Lom
