1875 John Baptiste Rochford immigrated from Canada to the United States.  Family historians say that he came into the Black Hills  of South Dakota on a bull train of freight at the age of 21.  When he arrived he could only speak French. In 1883 he married Catherine Connolly in Central City, South Dakota.  In 1884 he moves his family to Lead.  He worked in the gold mines of Homestake Mining Company until he retired.  He is a naturalized citizen in the 1910 census.

1882 - Catherine (sometimes Katherine) Connally emigrates to the United States about age 22.  She is not naturalized in the 1900 census.  She apparently was born on the Waterford side of Carrick-on-Suir.  At this particular place in Ireland the city was divided by the river Suir but also three counties come together.  The Waterford side is the poor side of town and could have been one of the reasons for her immigration.
