We do not know much about the origin of the Stophel family. One
researcher believes that they may be from Reinstein/Ravenstein,
Holland. I have found no proof of this. Abe Stophel in the census
is identified as being born in Virginia. There may be a connection
with David Stophel who bought the property of Abraham Grubb (2)
from the estate with Michael Grubb as executor.
