The following history of the family is quite different from what has been published by other researchers, in particular that is listed in the LDS computer research records. Bruce Ballenger, the main researcher on this line with his book Ballengers of Tryon and A Ballenger Genealogy, stated that he believe that Edward Ballenger, may be our ancestor. In emails 5/18/23. " I believe our Francis is the son of Edward who named a Francis in his 1779 Culpeper will. I do have a copy of the will." Ballenger stated. This is still speculation and is not back with other documents discovered to date. More distant records have not proved that the Ballinger line goes back to Gloucester, England but some DNA indication may be a helpful direction for more research.  He and I are hoping to find such a source for the family linkage and look forward to corresponding with anyone with firm information.
