Although this family is not in my direct line, it reinforces the
migration and history of the adjoining families. Joshua
Dodson is a minister to the Broad Run Baptist Church in 1762.
1762- Records of the Broad Run Baptist Church, New Baltimore,
Fauquier Co., Virginia.
p. 1 The Church was constituted December 3d. 1762,
consisting of the ten following Members living near Broad Run in
Fauquier County in the state of Virginia. Edmond Hayes,
Peter Cornwell, Joshua Dodson, Thomas Dodson, William Stamps
(marked) deceased, Elizabeth Hayes, Sarah Cornwell, Ruth Dodson,
Elizabeth Dodson, Betty Bennett.
The above Joshua Dodson
and Ruth Dodson, Thos. Dodson, Elizabeth Dodson, Elizabeth Dodson,
and Betty Bennett were dismiss'd to Halifax.
p. 2 Our Revd. Brother David Thomas hav(ing) a regular letter
of Dismission from the Ch(urch) at Vincent was received by the
Church as a Member thereof.
December 4th, 1762. We added the following members by

1768, June 13- James Ballenger joins the Broad Run Baptist Church
in Fauquier Co., VA. Dorcas has already been listed as a member.
Even though no marriage record was ever discovered, it is believed
by most researchers that JamesBallenger and Dorcas married in this
church due to their earlier and coincidental dates. [Ballenger 59]
1769, 17 March - James Ballinger of Frederick Co., wife Dorcas
and son, John, leased 120 acres from George Washington. Francis
Ballinger executed and identical lease. [Ballenger p.60]
1777 - Joshua Dodson is listed in the rent rolls of Prince
William County, Virginia. [Virginia Early Census Index]
1782- Joshua Dodson is listed in Pittsylvania Co., Virginia. [VA

1786 - Joshua Dodson is listed in Bostick District, Surry County,
