There are many fewer records available at these early dates.   Some of the churches were burned and other records damaged in storage.  The Løten church records for the birth years of Ole and Marthe are missing.  There is also great confusion with the names due to the multiple use of the same name in the same region and time period.  The farm name is usually more helpful but here we are also missing that within the Stange Bygdebok records.  Another hole in our research is the fact that the Loten parish record from 1711 to 1731 is missing from the Norway Archival records. It probably consists of one book but covers many important years.  It seems from the records we have the this family line was born and lived on the Aadalen farm at least from 1656 to 1817.

There is little information on the farm Aadalen but it is listed as farm #224 in Oluf Rygh's book on Norway farm.

There are a few Medieval records that show the name of Aadalen.

parents Statements that neither the king nor any other man possessed

Marte/Marthe Nilsdatter seems to be born or raised on Hammerstad farm#125 in Stange.  This is distinctly different from Hommerstad farm #85 in Løten.

1719 - church records for this date are missing so we are using the Løten Bygdebok for a source.
         Leif Erik Thorstensen states:

According to Löten bygdebok vol. 3 Ole Nilsen used the farm Aadalen from 1751 to 1784. He’s told to be born 1719 at Aadalen, but this is based on info from his burial 13. Oct 1795, where he is stated to be 76 years old. He was the son of Nils Olsen, tenant farmer on Aadalen from 1716, and owner from 1727. Niels Olsen was buried 12. Jun. 1749, and born abt. 1678. Nils was first married to Anne Pedersdatter, died 1716, then married to Marte Nilsdatter, born abt. 1687 at Aadalen, buried 22. Jan. 1757. Marte is supposed to be Ole Nilsen’s mother.

Anne Nilsdatter, baptized 23 Dec. 1753, was buried 2. Feb. 1754. In addition to the children you already have listed, they also had a second Anne, baptized 12. Mar. 1758, who married widower Lars Kristensen Fiskum in 1785.

The Aadalen farm had several spellings over the years. Here are other variations taken from the book of farms in Løten.
