The Williams family apparently came to the colonies before 1634 and lived in Rappahannock and Richmond Co., Virginia.

Probate seems to have taken place on
August 4, 1701   [Virginia County Records, Volume VI, Richmond County Wills,  book 2, page 417 on Ancestry.com digital records]

Francis Settle has a long and interesting linage. His father was Francis Settle, (b. 1622, Potterton, Barwick in Elmet, England) and Elizabeth Bruce,(b. @ 1639, VA; died 1721-1722, VA.) Married: 1658, Rappahannock. Francis III marries Elizabeth Williams.

Both marriages of Thomas and Elizabeth are found in North Farnham Parish Records and "Marriages of Richmond Co, VA. Thomas Williams was executor of his father's will of 1701. [Will - 24 Jul 1732/4 Mar 1733/34, in "Richmond Co,VA - Wills and Administrations:"]

I have no other information on this family. The primary information comes from Melton Meek who is compiling volumes 3 and 4 on the Williams due to published shortly.
