We really have no proof of who the father of our Robert Dyer may
be.
There are few families identified in Missouri in 1830 at the time of
Robert's birth. The earliest identified family with a Robert is
the one listed above. Robert senior's father was Samuel Dyer (b.
8 Oct 1856 in Bristol, England). Samuel immigrated to the
colonies as an indentured servant at the age of fourteen to
Virginia. Samuel's children were earlier immigrants to the
Missouri territory before 1830.
There may be several generations in between. We think there is
probably a connection with this family due to the unusual name of Asa
Dyer being listed by the census records from 1790 to 1830 in both
Massachusetts and Maine. A big gap in the census
records and the lack of bible records leave us hanging and
looking for connecting documentation.
