Søren becomes a baker in the area, following his family's tradition. The bakery continued in family ownership until present. It was not used as a bakery after about 1980 but instead was a place that Poul Hedegaard and his sons used to process honey. The old bakery building had low a ceiling and open beam work and was torn down in 2003.

A photo taken about 1934 outside the bakery (even though labeled 1937). It was a photo in the collection of Ann Christenson Wrenn who visited Denmark. It seems to include Poul Møller Christensen and Ane Johanne Pedersen(center who both die in 1934) with Søren Hedegaard (rt. of door), (below him is his wife Karen Marie Petersen), (on her rt.) Poul Bager Hedegaard,  Neils Bager Hedegaard, (far left.) Hanne Hedegaard, (to her rt) Niels Hedegaard, (front left) Chora Hedegaard, Agnes Hedegaard, Mary Hedegaard. There is another mysterious figure in the door.

 At some point, perhaps to alleviate some of the confusion with so many Christensons, Søren decides to use the Hedegaard last name. 

1887, Dec 19 -  Søren Hedegaard Kristenson is born in Søndbjerg to Bager (baker) Poul Møller Kristenson and his wife Ane Johanne Pedersen 38 years.

Poul Hedegaard was part of the Resistance during the war.   He along with Askov, his brother-in-law, helped to destroy the railway line that took German soldiers and arms into Norway.  [Kent Christoffersen 5/30/08]

1916, March 3 - Niels Kristian Hedegaard is born to Bager (baker) Søren Hedegaard 28 years old and his wife Karen Marie Pedersen 27 year, of Søndbjerg.

Neils Hedegaard, son of Søren, was responsible for the introduction of mink farming in the Jutland area. Søren Peter Hedegaard recently retires from the mink farming business.

1922 Nov 22  - Chora Petrea Hedegaard  is born in Søndbjerg sogn, Refs Herred. Her parents Søren Hedegaard  and wife Karen Marie Pedersen of Søndbjerg. She was apparently confirmed on 27 March 1939

The bakery "bagery" was torn down in 1999 and replaced with an apartment building.
