The family developed
is based on the the genealogy of the Roskilde Cathedral,
Roskilde, Denmark. This cathedral is one of the oldest in
Denmark and is the burial place of the largest number of king,
queens and other nobility in all of Europe including Harold
Bluetooth, one of the greatest kings of Denmark.
It seems that this
family is connected to the royal lines of Skane, Denmark (now
Sweden). The Skabersjo castle still exists outside
of Malmo, Sweden. At the time of these records Skane was a
principality of Denmark for several hundred years.
This family may have originated in Saxony but migrated to Skane
to develop the royal lines of Skane.
These families have
records and the family crests are found in the Roskilde
Cathedral web site and go back to about 1310.
The Ulfstand family
has roots in Skane, Sweden living on various farms and estates
such as
Jårrestad, Bara, Torna, Ingelstad, Villand, Harjager, Frosta,
Rønneberg, Luggude and Fårs.
Christence
Gertsdatter's oldest brother was Jabob Gertsen. He was
Archbishop from 1392-1410. He sealed the union letter of
1397 and the Coronation letter of 1385.
