We know little about this family. Jesse was born in Maine about 1819 so we suspect that the family was here for some time. We are just in the beginning stages of our research. We look forward to other information that may relate to this family.

Dudley L. Thing is living next door to Samuel Thing in the town of Industry, Somerset Co., Maine, roll 38, page 295/
Dudley is the only one with a child of the correct age for the birth of Jesse.
Although there are 10 other Thing families in Maine, none of the rest live in Somerset Co. Samuel seems to a young single male, next door, a possible older son of Dudley.
