A very long history of the Pamplin family has been developed by William E. Pamplin Jr. The Pamplin Family and Connections that apparently traces the family back to the vikings.   Some of the information here is using this source gractiously provided by Dawn Pamplin,  daughter of James William Pamplin, Neal's son.
